I had a lovely brunch at this jazz place with my friends today. I had a Peach Bellini and a pesto omelet with a bagel.  It was amazing.  Brunch is by far my favorite meal.  If I weren't in a food coma maybe I'd be able to write something coherent.

I apologize to all my internet friends for being so incredibly absent and busy these past few weeks.  Blame midterms and boyfriends, not me.  Matt is an absolute doll.  He treats me so well.  And he's adorable when he sleeps.  The housing drama is resolved and we've split into three groups.  Matt found his own place with Manizeh and Atanu, and Emma, Lindsey, Philip and I are looking for a 4-bedroom together.  I think it's good that I won't be living with Matt, probably better for our relationship, but it also makes me kinda sad.  I really want to get a place close by.

I went to see The Honorary Title open for Mae on Friday.  They were incredible.  I'm not a big Mae fan, but I adore THT.  Two other bands I hadn't heard before played as well.   I will write a review when I'm not in a food coma.  I'm also going to see Murder By Death with cruelest_month in a couple weeks, and British Sea Power in May.  I wish I could go to shows every week but I can't afford it, especialyl if I insist on buying a tshirt every time. XD

My anti-Valentine's party went perfectly. Being shy, paranoid, messy, and cheap, I haven't hosted a party in a few years. It was great. Even more people came by than I had hoped, and everyone ate ALL my cookies! I was worried they were overdone. We had so much fun just randomly chatting, and drinking wine. Most of them had never been in my room before, and they were impressed with it's cuteness. XD

Happy Valentine's Day, everybody! Or Anti-Valentine's Day, if that's what suits you.

I'm hosting an anti-Valentine's day gathering with my dorm friends in my room. It's single girls only. XD I'm definitely going to post pictures tomorrow.  I've had a good couple of days.  Yesterday in Theory class we had a guest professor who was really inspiring to me.   He rekindled my desire to do something important and not to let the petty things get in the way.  I feel good about it.

Now I'm off to go finish baking.  :D

Jen, you're the most amazing friend I've ever had. It's hard to express how much you have meant to me these past 8.5 years (yes, all 8.5 of them, even when I was acting like a ho). You have so much to offer the world. Despite everything, I believe you've played an important part in helping me heal, and you still are. You taught me that I have the ability to love someone in a real way: as a true friend. We're each still in the middle of our respective Big Adventures, and it's impossible to tell where future roads will lead us, but wherever I am, I will keep you close to me in sprit.

This is the only time in your life you get to be 23 on the 23rd. Enjoy it, have a Bloody Mary, and sing if you want to. Hell, you can even rap. You can even wear those horrible shorts. It's your day.

A big thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday!  The greatest thing to wake up to yesterday was THIS from ipsius.  SO PERFECT!!! It made my morning.

Well, three days into 2008 and I'm back in my room at school, facing two term papers and a take-home exam in the next 10 days.  O_o  But all's well, more or less.  I kind of had a panicky last few days, because transitions are really hard for me and I did not want to pack and go back for the life of me.  But now that I'm here, I realize how much I missed everyone.  I was getting a little restless on break.

For New Year's Eve, I went to Jenny's house and we hung out with Kamaal, David, and James.  It was a great time, even though I drank a little too much for my own medicated good XD.  We spent a lot of time making fun of old high school classmates and teachers.  It all feels so long ago.  Happy times!

My family celebrated my birthday on New Years Day, since my dad couldn't get off work on the 2nd.   It involved driving down to the O.C. to meet my grandmas for lunch.  The restaurant was rather disappointing, and once again everyone insisted on getting me near-duplicate gifts, but it was nice to be with the family without anyone being obnoxious.  The best gift I got was a pair of black corduroy pants from J. Crew in SIZE 6 with a little black-and-red belt that exactly matches a headband I already own and love.  I wore size 8 for a long time, but now it's too big for me!  *dances the skinny dance*  Also I got makeup, a new wallet, and some really cute jewelry, and my brother got me a big book of publishing companies and literary agents.  He can actually be thoughtful sometimes. 

So now, back at school.  I've already seen a lot of my good friends, and I have a lot of financial crap to sort out with the office tomorrow.  D:

And...Obama and Huckabee won Iowa.  Wow.  Any of the politics-savvy among you wanna dish your views?

I first got to know you through your delightful Tea and Dango series, but you're so much more than the queen of the Uchiha clan. I love your recs, your picture posts and your hardcore macros-meet-meta chapter analyses, and of course the crazy comment chains lasting long into the night.

Happy Birthday, raikune!  Hope your day is full of sunshine.  I wanted to have Bya/Ren fic finished for you, but it'll have to wait a few days.

 I actually got inspired to write a lot today and got over a major smut roadblock.  Excelllllent.  It'll be done in time for Gogo's contest and it's extra long.  Afterwards, a variety of NaruSasu pieces await.  Once I finish everything I've started, though, I think that with school I'll have to take a break from writing fic.  Obviously this journal has become more and more personal of late, and as I try to work out real life things I might have to step back my fan efforts.




Gerard Way will be signing his new comic book The Umbrella Academy at Newbury Comics in Boston Thursday afternoon.  *____*  I'm so there.  Once I get out of class it'll be a mad rush to the T...and then braving the line of teenie fans.  ><   I think that is why he was singing Umbrella - to promote his comic!  Clever clever.

I meant to have fic as well, but it got delayed, and I don't think Itachi would think it was a very good gift anyway...it turned out angsty. But it'll be out soon too.

I turned my senior thesis in today!   God that was a long, difficult journey.  And I'm not as proud of it as I wish I could be.  But that's my perfectionism talking.

 Now I am a zombie.    All-nighters always seem so painless at the time....

The other archaeology majors and I are going out tonight to celebrate.  But first I need to nappppppppppp.

I am totally in denial about the fact that I am about to be buried by the avalanche of my other classes....but none of them really matter to me any more.  I am so out of here.  On May 10 I will be DONE with finals and have two whole weeks at school with no obligations whatsoever.  Except possibly a trip to Orlando.  Not sure.

And it is sunny and warm!  I fell asleep on the lawn outside.  It was perfect.

Yes, I'm slightly early, but it is almost 2007. And not only is it a new year, but I have a NEW LAPTOP (my early birthday present!!!), and a new layout (so long X-mas), and a new moodtheme (though I must say as much as I adore the Uchiha boys, their range of expressions is not ideal for moodthemes unless your only moods are "apathetic," "enraged," and "gloomy." Hopefully I'll have more moods than that this year)!

This year went by so fast. It's frightening how every passing year is a smaller fraction of your life.

In 2007, I resolve not to make such a big deal out of everything and just relax a little.

When my brother and I were children, we used to wake our parents up Christmas morning as early as they allowed us.  Sometimes, this involved jumping on their bed, playing kazoos, or other such things. Usually I hadn't slept all night for excitement, and we were just dying to rip into the presents.  Eventually, the year came where I had to wake my brother up too, since he had acquired the habit of sleeping 'til noon if permitted, holiday or not.  But this year was the first year my parents had to bust into my room and get me out of bed.  I couldn't believe it.  The tables had turned at last.  My mom definitely enjoyed her revenge a little too much.  XD

I had no idea what I would get for Christmas this year.  I mostly got books and clothes, which are always my favorite things, but the best gift was an iPod Nano, which took me completely by surprise.  I will totally use it though, since my old, full-size iPod is a little too clunky to go running with all the time. 

We went to my aunt and uncle's house for dinner with the whole clan.  The highlight, as usual, was my 4-year-old cousin Dylan being SUPER ADORABLE.  This year he got a drum set from Santa, and would sit there banging on the drums screaming "Since U Been Gone."  I am not kidding.  This kid knows all the words to Kelly Clarkson, and he is in preschool.  It was too cute!!  I WANT HIM.  I also found out that my 10-year old cousin (or something? - I'm never too clear on how these relations work) is really into anime and manga, and we talked about Naruto and FMA for awhile at dinner.  I'm pretty impressed that she's only 10 and she knows how to download the subbed episodes and prefers them to the dubs.  Smart kid.  Another one of my cousins got engaged this week, which is really exciting.  I love when the family gets bigger! 

My aunt was also excited to learn that I might go to UCLA for grad school.  She's a big fan because her branch of the family has some UCLA alums, and it's also 10 minutes from her house.  Which means I would come over for dinner at every opportunity, because she cooks the best food ever.  She needs to open a restaurant.

Today I'm going to try to organize all my new books and things.  I love the day after Christmas almost as much as Christmas Eve.

My Christmas Eve was lovely.

We're having the most beautiful weather here in L.A.  I went running today with my best friend and her friend and then we had a surprise encouter with our other best friend who was running the opposite direction.  Yeah, my friends like to run a lot.  It was a friendful morning. Then we went to my grandma's house to open some early presents, then ate at a really nice restaurant.  It was soooo good.  And I got to wear my new black velvet dress, which I adore.  I felt so pretty!  And my grandma managed to make it through an entire evening without making racist comments, which was impressive.

My grandma bought me a robe that is THE SOFTEST THING EVER.  I swear it was made from a cloud.  I want to wear it everywhere. 

The night before that, we went to my dad's best friend's house for their annual caroling party, which was so much fun.  I didn't realize this, but they've been having this party for 49 years, and my dad was at the very first one when he was only 7 years old.  Crazy.

Tomorrow we're going to my aunt's house and my adorable 4-year old cousin will be there.  I feel really lucky to have such an awesome family.

I confess I did not see your birthday coming, or I would have written you that SasuNaru I promised you (yesterday?).  Now I have to write at least something for you today even if it's very short and crappy!

So Halloween is over and done with, and my dead camera battery didn't allow for very much of it to be immortalized, but I do have some pictures. My roommate and I went as "cats" to the senior dance Friday night, but we didn't decide to go out until it was already too late to bother making ears or tails. So we just wore black and drew whiskers.  Lame, I know, but it was fun. On the actual day of Halloween I just wore black and lots of eyeliner all day and all night.  It was fun.   My other roommates carved a pumpkin for our suite.  All in all it was a great time!


I'm alternating between being horribly stressed and angry and confused, and being very happy because I'm putting off my painful obligations. I was delighted that my FAVORITE room of the library, which has been under construciton, is now open again. And I have a quasi-date tomorrow. O_O

On an entirely unrelated note, I descended even deeper into moral bankruptcy last week by writing Uchihacest smut. I posted it in the relevant communities already, but I thought I should post it here for safekeeping. Yeah, I know it's pretty wrong, so don't judge me ;)
